COSMOS cab display

COSMOS is the desk display on the 2000, 3000 and 500 series. It shows how the train is doing car by car: effort, voltage, load and warnings. Here is what each zone of the CONDUCCIÓN page means.

What COSMOS is

COSMOS is the cab monitor. In MetroSim it appears with the ATP panel when you open it (H key): you see the same content on the HUD and on the 3D desk screen.

It runs on the 2000 and 3000 series (five cars; the middle one is a trailer with no effort bar) and the 500 series (only two motor cars: two bars). If you do not see the screen, the ATP panel is closed.

The CONDUCCIÓN screen: what each part is

The image below is the CONDUCCIÓN page. Green numbers mark each zone. Under it you get the legend and the status-strip detail.

  1. 1
    Header

Page title (CONDUCCIÓN), motorista number in yellow, circulation number, date and clock. Who is driving and which run you are on.

  2. 2
    Status strip

Grey icons = OK. Red = fault or a condition you must notice (doors, parking brake, ATP trip…). Yellow = warning (e.g. overspeed). On the right, L.TR. OK is the traction loop.

  3. 3
    Run numbers

Repeats circulation and motorista numbers under the strip. Motorista is highlighted in yellow for a quick read.

  4. 4
    Consist and tables

Each car with its number. The blue marker is the active cab. Below: filter voltage (V), load (%) and brake pressure (Bar). On 2000/3000 there are five cars (middle trailer); on the 500 only two.

  5. 5
    Effort bars

Zero in the middle. Up = traction (up to 100 kN). Down = electric brake. Motor cars only: on 2000/3000 the centre trailer is empty; on the 500 you get exactly two bars. When stopped with firm brake they empty (parking brake).

  6. 6
    Footer soft keys

Page soft keys: ESTACI., INCIDEN., P.M., EQUIPOS, MANTEN., change circulation number and motorista number. Menu keys for this COSMOS page.

Status strip icons

  • Direction

Train running direction on the consist.

  • Disconnector

High-voltage disconnector status. Grey means no alarm.

  • Motor

Traction chain / motors. Grey is normal.

  • Isolation

Equipment isolation. If it alarms, check before forcing a move.

  • Inverter

    Traction inverters.

  • Fault (red)

Turns red if ATP has tripped (train-stop). Do not ignore this icon.

  • Warning (yellow)

Yellow on overspeed against the ATP code. Slow down before it trips.

  • Parking brake

Red when almost stopped with firm brake: the train is held on the parking brake. Release before you try to leave.

  • Doors

Red if any consist doors are open. The traction loop (L.TR.) also alarms: do not take power.

  • L.TR. OK

Traction loop closed = you can take power. Red (open doors or ATP trip) means the loop is open: wait to close / reset.

How to use it while driving

You do not need to stare at COSMOS every second — but glance when starting, braking and whenever a red or yellow icon lights.

  • On power: bars rise on motor cars; filter voltage climbs toward ~1100 V.
  • Braking while moving: bars go down (electric brake). Stopped, they empty and the parking brake takes over.
  • Load (%): approximate occupancy per car. Not a brake, but it explains why the train “feels” heavier.
  • If L.TR. is not OK or doors are red: close doors / reset ATP before pushing the controller again.
